In the summer of 2021, the Crawford County Community Coalition took part in a strategic plan which resulted in the formation of a new sub-committee focused on Food Security. It was determined that since Eat Well was the county’s official Food Policy Council, our members would make up those belonging to the new sub-committee.
This group formed the first every county specific Food Resource Guide (FOUND BELOW) which was shared among coalition agencies and on social media as well as having 3,000 hard copies delivered to agencies serving food insecure households and individuals.

The City of Pittsburg, with the help of many partners, recently completed several walk-bike trails totaling 10 miles. The trails include:
Watco Trail, named for the short-line railroad operator headquartered in Pittsburg, stretches diagonally through the Kansas city just west of downtown. The trail is open on a portion of the former Missouri Pacific Railroad line that Watco Companies acquired as its first railroad purchase in 1987. The company generously donated this section of the corridor to the City of Pittsburg in the mid-2000s. The paved trail has 23 road crossings, so trail users should exercise caution. A landscaped trailhead with benches at its northern end provides a pleasant place to relax before or after a trek on the trail.
East-West Connector Trail
Pitsco Sunflower Trail
South Rouse Trail
ABOUT SEK PROBLEM GAMBLING TASK FORCE
Last year, we proudly announced the addition of the Southeast Kansas Problem Gambling Task Force, which was created as an initiative to raise awareness, provide education, and provide preventative approaches to problem gambling. We recognize that our casino generates considerable revenue for our community, but we also understand the importance of informing the public of the risks associated with gambling. This task force is generously funded by the Kansas Department of Aging and Disability Services (KDADs), and requires us to dedicate a significant portion of resources towards promoting responsible gambling practices.
